As Diablo 4 season 14 PTR leaves players feeling mixed, Blizzard announces developer livestream to reveal what is and isn't changing

Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred.

Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo 4 season 14 is called the Season of Death Awakening, and promises to unveil more info about it next week following a PTR that's left fans a bit mixed.

Diablo 4 is now somehow over three years old, and we're deep in the midst of its Lord of Hatred era (that being the name of the latest expansion, not a manifestation of players' reactions to Diablo Immortal). The latest expansion launched alongside season 13 of the game – titled the Season of Reckoning – but now Blizzard is gearing up to release its first new season since the expansion launched with the Season of Death Awakening.

On the Blizzard website, the studio announced the new season in a blog post and confirmed a livestream on June 23, 2026, at 11am PT, 2pm ET, and 7pm BST. Obviously, the important info is going to be saved for the stream, but Blizzard did note what to expect in the new season, aside from the typical seasonal quest and Seasonal Lair info.

The post reads, "Major updates include the new Mythic Uniques item rework, class balancing, and the official launch of the Tower and Leaderboards. We’ll also reveal details on quality-of-life changes such as Party War Plans, Solo Self Found, crafting upgrades, and higher currency caps. There will be a Q&A section at the end of the stream for you to ask questions directly to the team."

On top of that, there's going to be a special Twitch drop for watching Diablo 4 streams while the update livestream is ongoing, with the Falx Infectus sword cosmetic up for grabs for anyone who watches for 30 minutes. Plus, Blizzard is teasing the return of "a familiar adversary," which I'm sure the community will be able to figure out from the name of the season.

Some players have already gotten their hands on the changes too through the PTR, and it's uhh... Either incredible or really bad? Looking at the Diablo Forums, there are posts like one titled "Season 14 Is Exactly What Diablo 4 Needs," and another called "Season 14 Is Awful," which has several removed posts to boot. This isn't just mindless opinion flinging, either, as both threads feature long arguments about why the season is great or awful.

Even searching for Season 14 on the Diablo 4 subreddit yields similar results, with players either decrying or loving the changes Blizzard is making. So it's safe to say that early reactions are a bit mixed, which hopefully Blizzard takes into account ahead of next week's stream.

After 392 billion monsters slain in Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred, Blizzard stats reveal ARPG players prefer Warlocks to Paladins by almost 2 to 1
