Since assuming office for a second term as President of the United States, Donald Trump has taken some questionable steps, leading America into a state of full chaos. First and foremost, from the beginning, he has been quite stern about his stance on immigrants, calling them “illegal aliens” who need to be eradicated from America.
With the help of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Donald Trump has hunted down large populations of alleged “undocumented” immigrants, separated them from their families, and detained them to be deported. In places where he has been unable to exercise his jurisdiction on the matter, he has attempted to evade the law by illegally deploying National Guard troops, for instance, in the case of Chicago.
When Donald Trump is not playing mind games with people to have his way, he is making distasteful remarks about minorities. Women, members of the LGBTQIA++ community, people of different ethnicities, races, and religions have all been targeted by the US president on more than one occasion. While his favourite medium of spreading vitriol against these groups remains Truth Social, a platform owned by Trump Media & Technology Group (no surprises there), he also frequently takes a more direct approach by bad-mouthing them during press conferences.
As Trump continues his reign of terror in the US through his words and actions, he has found the support of several Republicans and MAGA supporters who continue to show solidarity. Like their orange overlord, they also spin webs of lies and target vulnerable groups to gain brownie points from other like-minded individuals. They refuse to side with reason and lead with blind faith. Their choices, however, do not go uncriticized. These days, more and more people are taking to social media platforms such as X to opine on the behaviours of such radically motivated groups. In response to a user commenting about MAGAs being “willing participants and collaborators” in Trump’s criminal actions, one user wrote:
“They were never tricked. Maga nuts have always fantasized about running the country as a fascist dictator. Maga nuts are overwhelmingly impoverished and are furious that liberal cities and states are developing and flourishing. It’s their ultimate wet dream to rule over America like a fascist dictator.”
Others also backed the responder’s comments and emphasised that his supporters stick by him despite being aware of his beliefs.
