Aryan Khan's 'nervousness' during security check alerted NCB officials; star kid allegedly cried during questioning

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Sunday arrested Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, and seven others in connection with the seizure of banned drugs onboard a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast.

As per the arrest memo of the NCB, 13 grams of cocaine, five gram of MD, 21 grams of charas and 22 pills of Ecstasy and Rs 1.33 lakh was seized after the raid.

Reports further stated that an NCB team, led by its zonal director Sameer Wankhede, raided the Goa-bound ship based on a tip-off that a party was scheduled. A report on Mid-Day claims that the undercover officers entered the vessel through the Green Gate in south Mumbai, while another team waited on the shore.

“The team kept a close watch on the invitees. We studied their body language at the entrance to ascertain if they are the ones we were looking for,” said an officer.

It was reported that after the guests were on board, the cruise staff made way for the VIP guests, including Aryan Khan and his friend Arbaaz Merchant. It was during a mandatory security check that Aryan reportedly 'got nervous' which in turn alerted the officials.

Merchant was subjected to a thorough check and drugs were reportedly found in his shoes. Arbaaz and Aryan were then detained for questioning.

Meanwhile, a report on India Today states that Aryan cried during the interrogation. The report claims that NCB official sources revealed that the star kid broke down during the questioning and even reveal that he had been consuming drugs for four years.

The NCB sources further said that even when Aryan Khan was in the UK, Dubai and other countries, he used to consume drugs.

"During the operation, the suspects were searched and different drugs were recovered from them, which they had hidden in their clothes, undergarments and purses (by women)," the NCB official said.

The cruise company in a statement on Sunday said it had nothing to do with this incident.

"Cordelia Cruises is in no way, directly or indirectly, connected to this incident. Cordelia Cruises had chartered its ship for a private event to a Delhi-based event management company," Jurgen Bailom, Chief Executive Officer and President, Waterways Leisure Tourism Pvt Ltd said in the statement.

The star kid's bail hearing will be held today afternoon. Reports state that while Aryan was taken into custody, nothing was found on him and hence, he was booked only on consumption charges.

Other accused Nupur Satija, Ishmeet Singh Chadha, Mohak Jaiswal, Gomit Chopra and Vikrant Chhokar were arrested and will be produced before the court today after their medical tests.
