RAIPUR: Announcing a ten-point "AAP guarantee card", Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday claimed that the schools in Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh were in terrible condition and AAP is the only party in the country that promises to build modern schools and hospitals.
Addressing the party workers convention in Raipur on Saturday in poll-bound Chhattisgarh, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal announced to launch the ten-point "AAP guarantee card" for the state including farmers and tribals if his party comes to power in November assembly elections. The benefits AAP leader guarantees to provide is Rs 3000 unemployment compensation, generating 10 lakh jobs, free treatment at government hospitals, free and quality education etc.
"It’s been 76 years since India got independence but have never seen a single political party saying that it will build schools and hospitals, rather, they seek votes on the name of religion and caste. But AAP is determined to build the nation and would ask for votes for building schools and development. I was reading a report that states the condition of schools in Chhattisgarh is in terrible condition. One should look at how well the government schools in Delhi are doing. We ensure if we come in power in Chhattisgarh, we will change the whole picture of schools and hospitals," said Kejriwal.
We are not politicians and haven’t joined politics to make money, we could have made money from what we were employed with, AAP leader said adding that give us a chance and people will forget other parties.
The Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal then announced ten guarantees to the state stating that his party has fulfilled the guarantees in Punjab and Delhi and if elected to power in Chhattisgarh, he guaranteed to provide several benefits including free electricity, monthly "samman rashi" to women of Rs 1000 and Rs 3000 as monthly allowance to unemployed.
"Today I am giving you ten guarantees which are not like a fake manifesto of other parties. I guarantee to provide 24-hour uninterrupted power supply and free electricity up to 300 units to each household, waving off pending electricity bills till November this year, Rs 1000 monthly ‘samman rashi’ to all women above 18 years of age, free and quality education to school children, Kejriwal said.
He said that free and quality health facilities will be provided to citizens along with mohalla clinics in villages and wards, just like we are giving in Delhi. Besides, free pilgrimage to senior citizens, Rs one crore to the families of police and army jawans who are martyred on duty and regularization of contract employees are other guarantees.
Kejriwal said that the tenth guarantee is for farmers and tribals and the details of which he will give on his next visit.
Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann in his speech also launched an attack on BJP saying, “We don’t do ‘jumlas’ like them, we deliver what we promise.”
This was Arvind Kejriwal’s third visit to poll-bound Chhattisgarh after he addressed a public meeting in Bilaspur and AAP workers' convention in Raipur.
AAP will be contesting for polls for the second time in Chhattisgarh and it has fielded candidates in 85 of 90 seats without making a dent. However, AAP is yet to announce the names of candidates for the upcoming elections.
