Arvin Appiah's Nottingham Forest exit for Spain can have 'HUGE' impact for English football

Former Nottingham Forest midfielder Guy Moussi says he is sad to see teenage talent Arvin Appiah leave the City Ground.

But he believes the youngster’s £8m move to Spain can help to have “a huge positive impact” on English football.

Appiah came up through the ranks at the Nigel Doughty Academy and made eight appearances for the Reds’ first-team, before this week joining La Liga 2 outfit Almeria on a five-year contract.

Commenting on the winger’s switch, Moussi wrote on Twitter: “I am a bit sad to see a talent like that leaving our club but I wish him all the very best!!!

“In another hand I am really pleased to see British players going abroad to play football!!!

“I am sure that it will have a HUGE positive impact for English football.”

Appiah only made his debut for Forest last season, but had featured just once this term under Sabri Lamouchi.

In his own social media message after leaving the Reds, the 18-year-old had said: “I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone at @officialnffc for the faith and trust they’ve shown in me since the day I signed for the club.

“I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support and guidance from the manager, my teammates, the backroom staff and everyone associated with the club.”

In another post, he added: “Proud to sign for @UDAlmeria_Eng and challenge myself in a new league and country. Can’t wait to get started!”
