Arvin Appiah's farewell message for 'special club' Nottingham Forest

Arvin Appiah has thanked “special club” Nottingham Forest after leaving the Reds for Spanish side Almeria.

After coming up through the ranks at the Nigel Doughty Academy, the teenage winger yesterday left the City Ground in an £8m deal.

Appiah made eight appearances in total for Forest, having made his debut last season when he came off the bench to score in the 3-2 League Cup defeat at Burton Albion.

But the 18-year-old featured just the once under Sabri Lamouchi this term, against Fleetwood Town in the same competition.

And his time on the banks of the River Trent came to an end when he put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the La Liga 2 team.

After completing his switch, Appiah wrote on social media: “I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone at @officialnffc for the faith and trust they’ve shown in me since the day I signed for the club.

“I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support and guidance from the manager, my teammates, the backroom staff and everyone associated with the club.

“Forest is a special club and I’ll always be thankful for my time here.

“To the fans, thank you so much for all the support, it means a lot.

“All the best for the future!”
