Arturo Vidal unhappy at lack of opportunities at Barcelona - two months after joining from Bayern Munich

Arturo Vidal admits he is frustrated by a lack of game time at Barcelona, just two months after joining the club from Bayern Munich.

The Chile international, 31, moved to the Nou Camp on a three-year deal this summer but has started just twice in six appearances so far, with coach Ernesto Valverde favouring Philippe Coutinho, Ivan Rakitic and fellow summer signing Arthur in midfield alongside Sergio Busquets.

He has yet to last a full 90 minutes in any competition this season and admits to being "irritated" by the situation, but adds that he has talked things through with Barca coach Ernesto Valverde.

“I am not happy but if I have a problem with the coach I will say it to his face,” said Vidal, speaking ahead of Chile’s friendly match against Peru in Miami on Friday.

“How am I going to be happy if I don't play, and me of all people? I am someone who has always fought, that has been in the best teams in the world, who has won everything and who wants to continue winning at Barcelona.

“I am fine physically and happy. In the past few games I have been a little irritated but that's how it is. We will keep battling, there are a lot of important games ahead and we will see.”

Vidal has won the league title as a starter in each of his last seven seasons at Juventus and Bayern, though a knee injury sustained during a training session in April cut short his 2017-18 campaign.
