Artur Boruc's Celtic confusion as another goalkeeper is labelled the 'Holy Goalie'

Celtic icon Artur Boruc has issued a response after Liverpool keeper Alisson Becker was dubbed the 'Holy Goalie'.

That was the affectionate nickname that was bestowed upon the Polish shot-stopper during his wildly successful five-year stay in Glasgow under Gordon Strachan.

And the 40-year-old couldn't help but have his say after respected blog 'The Anfield Wrap' heralded their star man the 'big gorgeous holy goalie' before Liverpool 's game with Newcastle.

The glowing review caught the attention of Boruc as he simply responded with three laughing emojis and a shamrock emblem.

And Celtic supporters also chimed in with one posting: "They stole our YNWA and now stealing our holy goalie patter. Dear dear."

Another added: "YNWA, holy goalie. What’s next? You forming a red brigade?"

Boruc's remarkable career shows no signs of slowing down as he returned to his boyhood club Legia Warsaw after eight years on the south coast with English Premier League pair Bournemouth and Southampton.
