Artist creates stunning celebration of Newcastle United's most famous kits

For each generation of Newcastle United fans, there's an iconic strip which stands out.

From the McEwan's Lager-sponsored shirt of the 1980s to the famous kits worn by Kevin Keegan's “Entertainers”, the Magpies boast a number of classic strips from recent decades.

Now, Toon fans have the chance to showcase the famous shirts on their wall with a limited edition print.

The collector's item dubbed 'Newcastle Shirts – A Magpie's Collection' documents the changing face of the United shirt from the unbranded black and white stripes to the current season's strip.

The print has been designed by artist Terry Kneeshaw, who has previously produced work on behalf of lower league sides such as Darlington and Bury.

Following these efforts, Terry was pestered by his United-supporting friends to create a design in tribute to the Magpies.

Terry, 62, from Darlington, said: “Newcastle United are the biggest club locally. I have a lot of friends and fond memories there.

“I've been to St James' Park many times and I absolutely love it. It's the North East's biggest club and it's who all my pals support.”

The design features 16 of United's best kits, and Terry insists he took steps to include designs from each of the club's sponsors.

He added: “I didnt realise – which is quite bizarre – that there were no sponsors before the 1980s.

“The collection goes from the original Supermac shirt, I enjoyed doing everyone of them. I think my favourite was the red and blue one, I had that shirt.”

The limited-edition prints are available for purchase, and more information about the design can be found on Terry Kneeshaw's website here.
