Artist creates amazing art on the back of a dirty white van in Nottingham

The sight of a cheeky 'clean me' etched into the dirt of a mucky vehicle is pretty familiar to most.

But one alternative artist has taken it up a gear, so to speak.

Ruddy Muddy (real name Ricky Minns) was in Nottingham yesterday (October 30) to create a tribute to Ken Loach's new film Sorry We Missed You on the back of his grubby van, parked outside the Broadway cinema.

A van driver and graffiti artist from Wymondham, Norfolk, he creates artworks by selectively wiping dirt off dirty vans using a technique he calls 'graffilthy'.

From director Ken Loach, writer Paul Laverty and the award-winning team behind I, Daniel Blake, comes Sorry We Missed You - a powerful exploration of the contemporary world of work, the gig economy and the challenges faced by one family trying to hold it all together.

The film, starring Kris Hitchen, Debbie Honeywood, Rhys Stone and Katie Proctor, tells the story of Ricky and his family who have been fighting an uphill struggle against debt since the 2008 financial crash.

An opportunity to wrestle back some independence appears with a shiny new van and the chance to run a franchise as a self-employed delivery driver.

Sorry We Missed You opens at cinemas including the Broadway Cinema from November 1.
