AN artist based in Scotland has launched a crowdfunder to help her stay in the country to keep her safe from "far-right repression".
Bogi Szeles, an artist and DJ currently based in Glasgow, launched the GoFundMe fundraiser to help pay for a UK graduate visa.
Szeles (below) arrived in Scotland from Hungary, which she called a "dangerous far-right state".
Szeles completed a fine art degree at Dundee University (Image: GoFundMe) She described Hungary as an "autocratic state" with high inflation, low wages and "casualised corruption".
"Hungary has once again become a fascist, far-right state that is not only unpleasant, but also dangerous to live in especially as a woman," Szeles said.
"They've already started taking away our human rights, and will probably only become progressively radical."
Szeles completed a fine art degree at Dundee University, where her graduate installation considered "how authoritarianism shapes identity and the self".

"The government would censor and possibly detain me. They've taken activists to court for simply exercising free speech," Szeles added.
After graduating from Dundee, Szeles moved to Glasgow, where she has continued to build a creative community.
She founded the Kore 9 Collective, a platform for underrepresented artists and DJs which runs events and workshops in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
"We've just performed at our first paid festival," Szeles said.
"I truly believe if I had to leave now, we would lose momentum and the collective would cease to exist."

If her application successful, the visa would allow her to stay in the country for another year and eventually apply for the settlement scheme.
At the time of writing, the crowdfunder has raised £607 out of a £800 target.
Szeles added: "Staying here would mean that I would be able to continue the life that me and my parents have built for myself and that our collective hard work would not go to waste due to a lack of funds."
