A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a ‘mum-to-be’ who plunged to her death on Arthur’s Seat.
Fawziyah Javed, from Pudley in West Yorkshire, was believed to be on her honeymoon in the capital when she died on Thursday, September 2.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Holyrood Park at around 9pm but the 31-year-old could not be saved.
Officers later arrested and charged a 27-year-old man in connection with the ‘suspicious’ death.
Kashif Anwar has now appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court where he faced one charge of murder.
The suspect made no plea and was remanded in custody with the case committed for further examination.
He is due to reappear within the next eight days.

Heartfelt tributes have poured in for Fawziyah, who is understood to have been in the early stages of pregnancy.
The lawyer’s employers at Davidson Lyons Solicitors said she was a valued member of the team who will be greatly missed.
In a statement given to the Daily Record, they said: “Fawziyah Javed had a bright start to her legal career at Lyons Davidson Solicitors, working as a paralegal in employment, training with the business and then qualifying as an Employment Solicitor in March 2020.
“She made a great impression with both her colleagues and customers winning Newcomer of the Year in 2016 and in July of this year was again recognised for the support and assistance she gave other teams during the pandemic.
“Fawziyah was a successful lawyer, a great colleague, and a good friend to many in the business. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time.”
