Arthur Melo speaks out on Liverpool treatment as Alexis Mac Allister transfer clause revealed

Arthur Melo speaks out on Jurgen Klopp treatment and confirms Liverpool future

Arthur Melo has confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season having failed to make an impact on loan at Anfield because of injury.

The Brazil international has been limited to just 13 minutes of action for the Reds, after signing on loan from Juventus on transfer deadline day last summer, and that came in the 4-1 defeat to Napoli in the Champions League back in September.

A thigh injury suffered the following month would require surgery and sideline the midfielder for six months. And while the 26-year-old was an unused substitute against Bournemouth, Man City, and Chelsea following his return, he has been left out of the Liverpool matchday squad for the Reds' last seven games.

The Reds did have an option in Arthur's loan contract to sign him permanently at the end of the season, but have understandably decided not to activate it ahead of a planned midfield revamp this summer.

Speaking to Goal about his future, the Brazilian has confirmed he is set to leave Liverpool but still hopes to make his Premier League debut before he departs.

"Next season I see it with good eyes. It will be decisive in my career and I am working very well," he said. "I'm looking forward to showing this new version of Arthur.

Brighton & Hove Albion star Alexis Mac Allister has a complex clause in his contract amid Liverpool interest, according to reports.

The Reds have installed the Argentinian as one of their top targets in the summer as Jurgen Klopp's midfield is set to undergo change. James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are destined to sign off on their Anfield careers at the end of the season upon the expiry of their respective contracts.

Mac Allister was one of the Argentine icons who ended their wait for World Cup success as he helped Lionel Messi pick up a winners medal in Qatar. Since his return, he has helped catapult the Seagulls into European contention under Roberto De Zerbi.

In a report from The Athletic's David Ornstein, it was revealed that 24-year-old does have a clause in his contract but it is not the 'typical' clause found in players' paperwork.

"It is understood the terms do, indeed, contain a mechanism which can be used to help facilitate a move and that has contributed to the level of interest building to prise Mac Allister from Brighton," he wrote.

"This is thought not to be a typical release clause other clubs may simply trigger, leaving the player to choose their next step, but a more complex feature that gives Brighton a say over the outcome.
