Arthur Masuaku goal: David Moyes delighted with West Ham’s good fortune after ‘great cross’ topples Chelsea

David Moyes has congratulated Arthur Masuaku on his "great cross" after the West Ham wing-back sent a bizarre swerving goal into the top corner to beat Chelsea late on in a dramatic London derby.

Masuaku was sent on just before the break to replace the injured Ben Johnson but ended the game in sublime fashion with his first Premier League goal.

Shaping to cross after a quick throw in the 87th minute, Masuaku's effort bent in at the near post through the hands of Edouard Mendy.

West Ham had twice come from behind and looked to be on their way to a well-earned point before the shock winner.

"I said to him that I thought it was a great cross," said Moyes.

"It was very fortunate, the goal, but in football you need a bit of fortune sometimes. In the last few games we have lost it a little bit, but today we got it back."

Teammate Jarrod Bowen, who won a penalty for West Ham's first goal before scoring the second, added: "He will tell you he took a shot. It has gone in. We are big on putting balls into the box.

“Sometimes you may get a bit of luck. He will say he shot, we are just buzzing to get the three points."
