Arsenal are reportedly interested in making a move for Brazil U23 international striker Yuri Alberto this summer.
According to Globo Esporte, the Gunners have renewed their interest in the striker having failed to bring him in from Brazilian top-flight outfit Santos in 2017 when he was just 17 years of age.
They do however face competition from Spanish giants Barcelona should they elect to make a move.
At just 20, Alberto has caught the eye in his homeland having burst onto the scene with Santos.
That led to a move to Brazilian rivals Internacional last year, where he has accumulated a respectable record of 17 goals in 49 matches since.
As a result, he has also been afforded opportunities on the international stage having earned two caps for Brazil’s U23 side.
Despite being from South America, Alberto reportedly holds a European passport, making him a tempting signing for the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona.
He still has four years left to run on his contract with his current employers, who are apparently asking for £11m (€13m) for the striker.
It would certainly not be the first time that the Gunners have turned to the Brazilian market having also recruited Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano back in 2019.
The talk around Alberto comes at an intriguing time too, with current forward and club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium.
According to The Telegraph, the Gabonese hitman could be a contender for Chelsea as they attempt to bolster their frontline ahead of the 2021/22 season.
