Artem Dzyuba slams Scotland tactics as Steve Clarke's men are accused of being too physical

Russia star Artem Dzyuba has hit out at Scotland's tactics and accused them of being hatchet men.

The Russians all but ended Steve Clarke's side's hopes of automatic qualification for Euro 2020 after coming from behind to beat their hosts.

Zenit St Petersburg ace Dziuba grabbed the equaliser before a Stephen O'Donnell own goal handed Russia a vital three points in Glasgow.

And the 31-year-old wasn't impressed with the Scots' approach to the game.

He said: "We were all a bit shocked at the start. Of course we knew Scotland would be aggressive, but not by as much as they were.

"Their fans encouraged them and the ref gave us nothing in the first 15 minutes. Scotland started off at an incredible pace.

"I got booted in the calf right away and the ref told me just to get on with it. I knew then what we were up against.

"But we settled down and accepted that was the way the game was going to go and no one could argue that we didn't deserve to win.

"Even though the stadium wasn't full, there was a brillant atmosphere. The way the Scots all sang their national anthem was impressive. But special praise to our fans too because I could hear them even with the atmosphere inside Hampden Park.

"We beat a team who had players from Liverpool and Manchester United in it.

I think we deserve a lot of praise for that.

"The coaching staff prepared us for what Scotland were going to do so they must take a lot of credit for it. But the important thing is we continue our good work by beating Kazakhstan and keeping the pressure on Belgium."
