Three or four years ago the small city of Norwich was punching above its weight in the arts: it was host to a number of major international arts events including EASTinternational and Contemporary Art Norwich. Austerity has taken its toll on these projects, but one well-regarded gallery remains and is accessible to students.

David Mcdonald made the film 'When I was twelve I wanted to be a rockstar but now I'm an artist instead' for his BA degree show at Newcastle University. Work by all 51 graduating students can be seen in the basement gallery at Shoreditch Town Hall from 6 to 9 July. Visitors are welcome at the preview on July 7 from 6-9pm. With the final assessments out of the way, this would be a good opportunity to speak to some of the graduates and find out what they really think about the college
