In September last year we reported on an amazing discovery. Artist Ania Dabrowska had been working in a homeless shelter in Camden where she got to know Diab Alkarssifi, a Lebanese photographer. Over time he revealed a large cache of beautiful pictures he had taken or collected, some dating back to 1898.
We pointed readers to a Kickstarter project for the arts organisation Book Works to create an artist’s book, which went on to raise £23,038. Now we’re delighted to offer readers the chance to own a limited-edition print of two of Alkarssifi’s skillful and evocative photographs. The images show (top) goats in the Bekaa Valley in 1976, and (right) George Hawi (later killed in an infamous bombing) visiting Lebanese Communist Party militia camps in the Ouyoun Al Siman mountains in 1979. They are printed together on a single sheet of 508 x 405mm matt paper.
We can offer the final 10 prints in this limited edition of 30, signed and numbered by Dabrowska and Alkarssifi, with a signed book and certificate of authenticity, for £240 (unframed) – a 15% discount for readers.
