Art exhibition to promote work online

Dunkeld Cathedral’s summer art exhibition looks set to take a break for 2020 and instead the work will be viewed online.

This was to have been the 50th anniversary year of the Cathedral Art Exhibition, but organisers have scrapped the planned opening date of June 25 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

To make the best of the art already registered, the exhibition will attempt to promote the pictures online.

Organiser Margaret Scott said: “The news is changing from day to day and not really getting much better, so it seemed to make sense to list the paintings online.

“Many of our volunteers are on the older side and we don’t think, with COVID-19, it would be right to ask them to help this year.

“However, on a positive note we have opened the webpage and a few artists are already showing their work.

“One of our invited artists this year is Clare Arbuthnott from Edinburgh, well known for her colourful works of garden flowers along with her landscapes.

“The other invited artist is Iain Younger, who has also exhibited at Pitlochry Theatre amongst other places. We are delighted to welcome back to Dunkeld, Eleanor Watt and Susan Clare Fernie, both of whom were popular exhibitors in years gone past.

“The good news is that all the work on show is for sale and we can arrange for work to be parcelled up and sent out.”
