Art and poetry in the post to Japan

Edinburgh's Scottish Poetry Library is encouraging locals to show their support to the people of north east Japan by sending artwork on postcards.

Artists Kate Thomson and Hironori Katagiri, who often display in Edinburgh, were inspired by the way Japan's postal system quickly recovered following the recent earthquake disaster. In some areas it was up and running before mobile phone and internet networks.

Thomson and Katagiri are inviting artists and poets to send messages of support and will use their contacts in Japan to spread the word.

All postcards received before the end of May will feature in an exhibition set to tour venues across the north eastern regions of Japan.

The postcards must be A5 and contain original work.
