Arson squad detectives have been called in to investigate a fatal house fire in Melbourne's east.
Fire crews said the home on Lusher Road in Croydon was already fully engulfed in flames when they arrived on the scene just before 4:00am.
The body of a man, who has not yet been formally identified, was found inside.
Another occupant of the house managed to escape the blaze and was taken to hospital for observation.
A crime scene has been set up by Victoria Police and an arson chemist will assist in the investigation.
