An arson probe has been launched after a barn was torched with up to 20 vehicles inside.
Crews were called to Bushells Farm in Widnes on Sunday night, at about 10pm, after the blaze started to spread.
Firefighters spent several hours at the scene on Joy Lane, off Clock Face Road, as the building was found well alight.
This afternoon, detectives said the fire was believed to be deliberate and they are hunting those responsible.
The blaze had the capacity to have spread and led to far more dangerous consequences, police added.
Detective Constable Anthony Hatton, of Merseyside Police, said: “Thankfully no-one was injured during this incident, but the consequences could have been far worse for the neighbours if the fire had spread.
“If you witnessed the incident or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area, please let us know.
"Likewise, if you have any CCTV or dash cam footage that could assist with the investigation, please let us know so we can take action and find those responsible.”

Fire crews left the scene just before 9am.
