'Arson attack' in Bristol hall

A fire at a derelict hall in Redcliffe is thought to have been started deliberately.

Fire crews from Temple and Bedminster were called to the three-storey building in Prewett Street at around 10pm last night (June 18).

On arrival, firefighters made sure everyone was accounted for and then extinguished the blaze.

Pictures from the scene show the badly burnt interior of the building.

Avon Fire and Rescue has said the cause of the fire "is thought to be deliberate".

A spokesperson for the service said: "Three crews from Temple and two crews from Bedminster fire station were called to a fire in a derelict building consisting of three floors.

"On arrival, firefighters found all persons to be accounted for.

"Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one 45mm jet and two high pressure hose reels to extinguish the fire before damping down the area.

"The cause of the fire is thought to be deliberate."
