Arsene Wenger says Freddie Ljungberg has his support as the former Arsenal player takes up the managerial role.
Ljungberg has taken the big job on an interim basis following Unai Emery's sacking, stepping up from assisting the former head coach this season.
Arsenal scrapped a 2-2 draw with Norwich City in his opening game and is now preparing for his first game in the Emirates Stadium dugout.
Addressing the media for the first time, Ljungberg said he would "really like to speak to" Wenger.
He said: "I'm in contact with him but I haven't spoken to him because it's been a bit hectic, but it's on my list to do so."
Wenger appears to be waiting for Ljungberg's call, giving his backing to the Swede when talking to Sky Sports News: "My heart is with the club and I want them to do well.
"Freddie is fantastically committed. He has an opportunity. Let’s get him to work with his ideas and support him."
