Arsene Wenger to Bayern Munich: Arsenal legend teases announcement with major admission

Arsene Wenger is being linked with a return to management.

The legendary former Arsenal manager has been away from the dugout ever since stepping down from his position at the end of the 2017/2018 season.

But following Bayern Munich parting company with head coach Niko Kovac at the weekend, Wenger became the outright favourite to take charge of of the Bundesliga giants until the end of the season.

It remains to be seen if Bayern are really interested in the Frenchman as reports in the German press claim that's not the case.

However, that's not stopped Wenger from discussing the idea of taking charge at the Allianz Arena.

"What I like about them, you have to give that to the Germans, they always try to play," he told beIN Sports. "And they take responsibility to play.

"And Bayern is maybe the team that always to play possession.

"They are not scared to say: ‘Yes we want the ball, yes we take the game to the opponent. We want to dominate the game.’ Historically, they did always that they have a history of a club that wants to play positive football.

"Look, I think any team that is challenging for a league wants to challenge… in the big championships, the four or five big leagues, all these teams they want to challenge for the Champions’ League.

"You could argue, having seen the evolution recently, in England maybe it is as difficult to win the Premier League as the Champions’ League.

"Because the teams together you have 5 or 6 teams that are contending."

One thing that could swing things in Wenger's ability to speak the German language.

"I speak German fluently," he added.

Wenger followed this up by teasing an announcement regarding his future.

"I'd never refuse to talk to Bayern Munich because I know the people who lead the club for 30 years," he said, as per Goal. "We have not talked to each other. I have not decided yet if I go back on the pitch or not.

"I will make that decision in the coming days or week."
