It has not been the best of starts to life at Real Madrid for former Chelsea star Eden Hazard.
The Belgian joined the La Liga giants this summer in a big-money move from Chelsea , having starred in west London in recent seasons, with 16 goals in his final season with the Blues.
But he has struggled to replicate the form he showed with the Blues, with Hazard scoring just one goal in ten appearances so far for Real Madrid, having missed the start of the season through injury.
The 28-year-old was involved last night (Wednesday) as Real Madrid thrashed Galatasaray 6-0 in the Champions League, but was substituted midway through the second half, with teenager Rodrygo grabbing the headlines with a hat-trick for the hosts.
And former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has had his say on why he feels Hazard is struggling to make an impact in Spain, with the Frenchman suggesting that his lack of form is down to his physical condition.
“I feel we have not seen the Hazard we know in England yet," Wenger said, speaking as a pundit on beIN Sports.
“He was not physically fit after he was injured. He is not a player who is usually impressed by anything, but it looks to me that he has not the same confidence he had at Chelsea.
“He is not the type of guy to be [awestruck], I don’t know him well enough to assess that.
“But I think it is more down to physical reasons. He became too heavy, if you read the papers, and if you want to make a horse lose a race, you put two kilos on a horse of 500kg, it is enough.”
