Arsene Wenger offers Harry Kane transfer advice amid Manchester United interest

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has offered Tottenham striker Harry Kane some transfer advice amid Manchester United's interest in the forward.

Kane has excelled in the Premier League this season, leading the charts for both goals (17) and assists (13).

Spurs haven't won a trophy since the 2008 League Cup but Wenger does not necessarily subscribe to the theory that Kane needs to leave the club in order to get his hands on silverware.

"Tottenham are in a position where they can be ambitious and we should maybe not judge only today’s situation," Wenger told beIN SPORTS. "Tottenham were top of the league in December. There were a few times when they were top of the league when I was still at Arsenal.

"He is the only one who can assess the situation. A player like that is always solicited by other clubs and always has to assess his situation.

"He was until now a real top leader at Tottenham. He’s a top leader in the English national team. I respect highly his commitment and his quality.

"What I like today is he could play basically as a No.10 because the quality of his assists and the speed of his vision, and the execution of his speed on long balls is exceptional."

The MEN understands Spurs are confident of keeping Kane beyond this summer's transfer window and will not consider selling the England forward to another Premier League club.
