Arsene Wenger explains why N'Golo Kante is a different animal under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea

Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has delivered a glowing verdict on Chelsea star N'Golo Kante.

Kante has been excellent for the Blues since his £32million move from Leicester City in 2016, but he has gone from strength to strength this season, in particular.

The Frenchman has a huge fan in Thomas Tuchel, and that seems to have pushed him to a new level again, performing at an elite level to help the Blues achieve a top-four finish and a Champions League title.

Already a world champion, Kante has been at the top of his game for some time, but he continues to blow away both his biggest admirers and any remaining critics.

And Wenger believes that might be because he has added an attacking side to his game that was not there before.

"N’Golo Kante has added something to his game," the former Gunners boss told BeIn Sports. "Before, he won the ball and he made a good pass, he was an exceptional ball winner.

"I say an exceptional ball-winner because he wins decisive balls without making a foul.

"But he is now capable of running with the ball and making a good pass in the final third.

"That’s why I am certain he is the best all-round midfielder in Europe at the moment."

Kante has now racked up 157 league appearances for Chelsea, accumulating no fewer than five trophies in four years, winning the Champions League, Europa League, two Premier League titles and an FA Cup.

In the most recent of those honours, Kante starred, putting in a near-heroic performance as Chelsea defeated Manchester City in the final last weekend and he is already looking forward to his next goal, linking up with France this week ahead of this summer's Euro 2020.
