Arsene Wenger announces plan to unearth next Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola

Arsene Wenger has promised to deliver the next generation of elite coaches to emulate Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp.

Former Arsenal boss Wenger is trying to educate young coaches and promote coaching courses as part of his role with FIFA to improve levels among future managers. Wenger, who is now FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development, spoke at a FIFA coaches conference while has also recently addressed national bosses including Gareth Southgate.

Frenchman Wenger wants to prioritise coaching standards with extra technology and better courses to help former players among others make the step up.

Wenger said: “Anyone can be a coach, but telling someone exactly what they have to do, exactly how to do it and even telling them when to do it, that takes knowledge, experience and education. That’s why it’s very important that we focus on the quality of education.

“It’s a question of both quantity and quality. We need to keep working on the quality of coaches and, even more importantly, on coach educators, who are the people developing these courses and working with players both young and adult, male and female.

Ultimately, the aim is to try and develop the game in every country and take it to the next level. “What FIFA is doing in supporting educational programmes around the world is really positive.

“The big task facing us is to get these messages out there, and to get support through these programmes so we can develop the best players and coaches for the future.”

Wenger is also targeting more and better coaching in Africa, having recruited Lauren, a former member of his all-conquering Invincibles side, to take up a role with FIFA. Ex-Arsenal defender Lauren has become a technical expert on recruiting coaches while Wenger wants to see better coaching standards and fresh ideas across the globe.
