Arsenal youth scout Steve Morrow considered for promotion as backroom shake-up continues

Arsenal youth scout Steve Morrow is among the contenders for a promotion as the Gunners continue their backroom staff shake-up.

Morrow, a former midfielder, came through the academy at Arsenal as a player and has been involved in the youth setup for more than a decade.

While the club are still looking to fill the role of technical director, Morrow is one of those being considered for a senior scouting role following the departure of Sven Mislintat this month.

The former Northern Ireland international scored the winning goal in Arsenal’s 1993 League Cup final win over Sheffield Wednesday before breaking his arm during the celebrations.

Morrow made over 60 appearances for the club in a career which also took in stints with Reading, QPR and Dallas Burn, now FC Dallas, beginning as a coach with the latter before moving back to north London.

Mislintat, who is set to leave his role as head of recruitment on February 8, is the second high-profile departure from the club this season after chief executive Ivan Gazidis left to take up a role at AC Milan.
