Jordan McEneff has confirmed he has extended his contract at Arsenal.
The 20-year-old announced the news on social media over the weekend and says he is delighted to be extending his stay at the Emirates Stadium as he bids to force his way into Mikel Arteta's first-team plans.
However, McEneff must overcome an injury sustained against Liverpool U23s back in October, as per the Daily Cannon, before he can seriously think about following in the footsteps of Bukayo Saka.
"Delighted to extend my contact @Arsenal, working hard to get back fit and kick on," was the central midfielder's 15-word message on Instagram.
McEneff might not be the only Arsenal youngster making a contract announcement in the coming weeks and months.
As reported by football.london last week, the Gunners have made a contract offer to highly-rated academy star Kido Taylor-Hart after impressing at U18 level this season, where he has six goals and four assists in nine appearances.
He has also featured for Steve Bould's under-23 side this season, scoring three goals in ten games, netting another goal as the U23s drew 2-2 with Southampton in a recent outing.
Taylor-Hart has yet to sign his first professional contract with the club and football.london understands that there is interest in the starlet from teams in Germany, Holland, and Belgium as well as in England.
And with his current scholarship deal expiring in the summer, the north London outfit have made a move to secure his long-term future.
With that said, a large number of youngsters are expected to leave the club this summer.
The Gunners currently have 39 youngsters on professional contracts and a further 19 on scholarship deals and decisions are expected to be made between now and the end of the season.
One player who could depart the Gunners is Folarin Balogun.
The striker is out of contract in the summer and is yet to commit his future to Arsenal, despite manager Mikel Arteta insisting there have been "positive talks" between technical director Edu and the player's representatives.
He's been on the sidelines with an injury for the past few weeks, but sources tell football.london that the 19-year-old is not expected to renew his contract with the club.
