Arsenal youngster makes surprise appearance in training session ahead of Everton clash

Arsenal have completed their preparations for the Premier League encounter with Everton.

Following two wins on the spin and three clean sheets in a row across all competitions, it's safe to say that confidence within the Gunners squad is beginning to grow as they attempt to salvage a disappointing campaign.

Not every single result in the top flight of English football this weekend has gone for the north London outfit so far.

Mikel Arteta and Arsenal stars thank Gunners supporters after Olympiacos win

Whilst Tottenham Hotspur and Sheffield United have both dropped points, Burnley's win over Bournemouth means Mikel Arteta's side will kick-off at the Emirates Stadium in the bottom half of the table.

As a result, they must beat the Toffees if they're to have any chance of finishing in the top-four or fifth spot which could mean Champions League qualification if Manchester City's ban is not overturned.

With that said, the Gunners squad were put through their paces at London Colney on Saturday afternoon ahead of the late afternoon kick-off at the Emirates.

Under 23's players such as Zak Swanson and Trae Coyle took part in the training session alongside the likes of Joe Willock, Reiss Nelson, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mesut Ozil and David Luiz.

But there was a surprise face in the training session.

As seen in the image below, Daniel Ballard was spotted trying to get the ball off Eddie Nketiah.

The defender is now back in training after seeing his loan spell at Swindon Town cut short in August because he required surgery on his knee which has kept him on the sidelines for the past five months.

It would appear that Ballard is making great progress and could be in line for some games for Steve Bould's U23's side in the near future.

The teenager made his League debut as Swindon Town beat Scunthorpe United on the opening weekend of the new season, helping to keep a clean sheet away from home.

Three days later he was on the scoresheet in a EFL Trophy loss at the hands of Chelsea.

He returned to the starting XI as Town were beaten 3-0 by Colchester United in the Carabao Cup and that's the last time Ballard featured for the League Two outfit.
