Arsenal youngster Eddie Nketiah lined up for loan transfer by Aston Villa and Norwich

A duo of Premier League sides have joined the race for Arsenal youngster Eddie Nketiah, according to reports.

Striker Nketiah was on loan at Leeds for the first half of the campaign but has been recalled by the Gunners due to his restricted game time at Elland Road.

He started just two games for the Whites making a further 15 appearances from the bench, scoring three goals.

Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday are in the race to secure his services for the second half of the season.

The Owls are desperate for reinforcements up front after 12-goal top scorer Steven Fletcher was ruled out for 8-10 weeks with a knee injury.

Wednesday are also trying to lure Connor Wickham to Hillsborough for a third loan spell, with Crystal Palace understood to be open to the switch.

Bristol City are favourites to land Nketiah, but could now be rivalled by two Premier League sides, report Bristol Live.

Aston Villa and Norwich are the teams in question, with both keen to strengthen their forward options in January.

Villa could be without injured striker Wesley for the remainder of the campaign while the Canaries want a player to remove some of the goal-scoring burden from Teemu Pukki.

Nketiah has made 19 first-team appearances for Arsenal, scoring three goals.

The 20-year-old has represented England at Under-18, U19, U20 and U21 level, scoring eight times in eight matches for Aidy Boothroyd's side.
