Arsenal XI vs Everton: Raya in - Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest today

David Raya starts in goal for Arsenal away to Everton as Aaron Ramsdale loses his place.

The goalkeeper, on loan from Brentford, makes his debut at Goodison Park as the Gunners look to improve on their woeful record at the ground.

Thomas Partey is “a few weeks away” from returning, but Bukayo Saka is fit to start.

Saka was on the bench for England’s win over Scotland, coming off it to play the final 19 minutes amid reports that was nursing an Achilles problem.

Mikel Arteta, however, insisted the winger was fine in his pre-match press conference and he trained normally on Friday ahead of the trip to Goodison Park.

“He is fine, he trained normally today so there is nothing to report there,” said Arteta. “Every player has always pains or issues, but nothing to worry about.”

Arsenal are without Partey this weekend, though, as the midfielder is still recovering from a groin injury picked up just before the international break.

The Ghana midfielder is understood to be targeting a return to action next month and Arteta confirmed he will be out for a while longer.

“He is still a few weeks away,” said Arteta. “He has got a muscle injury and he is progressing well, but he is still a few weeks away.”

Fabio Vieira starts in midfield for Arsenal, with Kai Havertz named among the bench. Eddie Nketiah is preferred up front to Gabriel Jesus.

Starting XI: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Rice, Vieira, Odegaard; Saka, Nketiah, Martinelli.

Subs: Ramsdale, Tomiyasu, Kiwior, Jorginho, Havertz, Trossard, Smith Rowe, Nelson, Jesus

Time and date: 4.30pm, Sunday September 17, 2023

Venue: Goodison Park
