Arsenal XI vs Chelsea: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Premier League today

Arsenal appear to have opted for a back-three system for tonight’s crucial clash with Chelsea.

Rob Holding comes into the side, alongside Ben White and Gabriel, as the Gunners look to solidify themselves at the back.

Alexandre Lacazette has been suffering from Covid-19 and returns to the bench, while Takehiro Tomiyasu has been out since January due to a calf problem and once again misses out. Arsenal were assessing the pair on Tuesday.

“With Laca, we are assessing him today to see if he is available with the team,” said manager Mikel Arteta.

“Obviously, as you all know, he had Covid, so he has been away for a few days. We just try to get his feeling and where he is at, and if he could contribute somehow with the team.

“Tomi is very, very close. Whether this game is going to be too early for him or not, again we decide today after the training session.”

Arteta is already without Kieran Tierney (knee) and Thomas Partey (thigh) for the rest of the season, and he could go with a back three at Chelsea.

Eddie Nketiah keeps his place up front, while Mohamed Elneny comes in for a rare start as Albert Sambi Lokonga drops out.

Starting XI: Ramsdale; Holding, Gabriel, White, Tavares, Elneny, Xhaka, Odegaard, Saka, Smith Rowe, Nketiah

Subs: Leno, Cedric, Swanson, Lokonga, Azeez, Hutchinson, Martinelli, Pepe, Lacazette

Wednesday 7.45pm BST, Sky Sports

Venue: Stamford Bridge
