Arsenal youngster Omari Hutchinson opened his account for the Gunners' Under-23s side on Friday evening with a stunning solo effort.
The 17-year-old midfielder, making only his third appearance for the Arsenal Under-23s, was on the front foot pretty much from the off in the Gunners’ clash with Crystal Palace at Meadow Park.
He picked up the ball in his own half, just outside of the centre-circle and produced a fantastic bit of skill to evade two Crystal Palace challenges.
Even after he was almost hauled down, Hutchinson continued to drive into the opposition half until he was in the penalty area.
Once there, he took a couple of touches to manufacture space before unleashing a thunderous drive that flew past the Crystal Palace keeper.
It was certainly remarkable to note that the strike was his first for the under-23s but it definitely appeared to get his confidence up as he found the net once again just eight minutes later as he helped the young Gunners to a 3-1 lead into half-time.
The Eagles, who had been reduced to 10 men earlier in the game, managed to pull a goal back in the second-period but it was not enough as Arsenal claimed the points with a 4-2 victory, Zak Swanson rounding off the scoring in the 98th minute of time.
The result was certainly needed, with Kevin Betsy’s team earning their first victory of the 2021/22 Premier League 2 season following their 6-1 humbling at the hands of London rivals West Ham United last time out.
They will now prepare for a north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur's Under-23s next Friday.
