Arsenal wonderkid Reiss Nelson sends message to Unai Emery ahead of Southampton visit

Reiss Nelson is back.

It's been a frustrating past month for the Arsenal wonderkid as an injury sustained in the Europa League win over Standard Liege at the beginning of October has kept him out of action for the first-team.

He did return against Tottenham Hotspur U23's ahead of the 1-1 draw against Wolves a couple of weeks ago and was named on the bench against Vitoria a few days later.

But he didn't come on and didn't travel to Leicester before the international break.

So with the Gunners welcoming Southampton to the Emirates Stadium next week, Nelson has staked his claim for a place in Unai Emery's matchday squad.

Replacing teammate Joe Willock just after the hour mark for the England U21's against Albania, the winger got some much needed minutes under his belt.

Furthermore, he got on the scoresheet in injury time.

Leading a counter-attack from deep inside his own half, it appeared that Nelson had fluffed the opportunity with the wrong choice of pass.

However, the ball eventually made its way back to him and he showed great footwork inside the box to create space before firing a shot into the roof of the net to make it 3-0.

The goal, which can be seen here, prompted a big reaction from some Arsenal fans on social media.
