Arsenal Women's U16s 'Invincibles' may be looking to feature for Jonas Eidevall's seniors side

Invincible seasons are part of the DNA at Arsenal, and the under-16s women’s side is the latest Gunners side to achieve the feat.

Arsenal’s under-16s clinched the league title and with it the accolade over the weekend with a 4-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

The feat arrives nearly two decades after the men’s senior team achieved the historic 'Invincibles' title in the 2004 season under Arsene Wenger. Of course, Arsenal's women’s senior side went five better than the men’s side, having achieved the unthinkable record of 108 games undefeated between 2003 and 2009 before seeing the streak unceremoniously ended by league rivals Everton Women.

Indeed, it’s an achievement that is unlikely to be replicated across any standard of football, but the club’s under-16s team achieved their own version over the weekend with plenty of reminiscent shades of the history before them.

The emphatic 4-1 victory over Brighton earned the young Gunners a record of 11 wins and three draws across the season, conceding just four goals in the process as they emerged victorious in the FA Girls’ England Talent Pathway League.

As Arsenal Women’s senior side continue to cut themselves a formidable force both domestically and in Europe, the pipeline of talent suggests no signs of ebbing in what could be a major boost to Jonas Eidevall's mission in reasserting Arsenal's dominance on the WSL, particularly in attacking departments.

Top goalscorer Isabella Fisher bagged 13 goals in just 10 appearances, while Omotara Junaid and Vivienna Lia each wrote their name on the scoresheet nine times across the season.

The attacking flair helped the under-16s completed the league double over Chelsea, including a 3-0 win away at Cobham. A trip to Manchester in the Youth Cup quarter-final saw the side fire eight past City.

The Gunners are set to wrap up their impressive season with another shot at silverware as they face Manchester United in the Youth Cup final.

Meanwhile, Eidevall’s side claimed the first piece of silverware of the season with a rollicking 3-1 win over Chelsea in the FA WSL Cup.

Arsenal Women remain in contention for the league title as well as Champions League glory - they currently sit five points behind leaders Chelsea.
