Arsenal Women's Super League match sets new attendance record

Women's Super League - Everton v Chelsea

The recent Women's Super League match between Arsenal and Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium made history by setting a new attendance record for the league. With over 60,000 tickets sold and all hospitality packages fully booked, the match attracted a remarkable 60,160 fans – surpassing the previous record attendance of 59,042.

Arsenal's impressive 3-1 victory over Manchester United saw goals from Geyse, Cloe Lacasse, and Kim Little, with Lucía García scoring a consolation goal for United. This momentous occasion marks the second time Arsenal has sold out the Emirates Stadium, following a Women's Champions League semifinal in May 2023.

Playing six of their 11 home league matches at the Emirates Stadium allows Arsenal to accommodate a significantly larger audience compared to their usual venue at Meadow Park, which has a capacity of 4,500. The club now holds all five of the top attendance records in the WSL, highlighting the growing popularity and support for women's football.

Arsenal's CEO Vinai Venkatesham expressed the club's ambition to play all WSL matches at the Emirates Stadium and lead the way in promoting larger venues for league games. With a focus on nurturing the growing fanbase and ensuring sustained growth for women's football, Arsenal aims to set a precedent for other clubs in the league.

The landmark achievement of a record-breaking attendance at the Emirates Stadium reflects the increasing interest and enthusiasm for women's football, signaling a promising future for the sport. Arsenal's commitment to expanding the reach and appeal of women's football is an important step towards further elevating the profile of the game and inspiring future generations of players and fans alike.
