Arsenal Women close in on Nikita Parris deal as new manager search continues

Arsenal are close to tying up a deal for England forward Nikita Parris.

The 27-year-old, who is part of the Team GB Women’s Football squad travelling to the Tokyo Olympics this summer, has been playing in France with Lyon since 2019.

Parris is now ready to return to England, though, and is close to joining Arsenal after holding successful talks with the club.

Arsenal are currently without a head coach after Joe Montemurro left at the end of this season, but it is hoped his replacement will be appointed in the forthcoming weeks.

Technical director Edu is working on the appointment, along with the staff from Arsenal’s women’s setup.

It is hoped an appointment will be made in the next few weeks to give the new manager time to settle in.

The signing of Parris, who scored 13 goals in 20 league appearances for Lyon last season, is a statement of intent from Arsenal as they prepare to return to the Women’s Champions League.
