Arsenal welcome former Celtic star Kieran Tierney back to action

Steve Clarke's Scotland have been handed a boost as Kieran Tierney returns to training with Arsenal.

The former Celtic left-back struggled with injuries in his first campaign at the Emirates after arriving last summer, but Arsenal have posted a picture of the 22-year-old back in training.

Tierney, who cost the Gunners £25m, was initially on the sidelines thanks to a double hernia operation in May 2019. He then suffered a dislocated shoulder against West Ham in December, and was restricted to a total of 11 appearances last season.

The picture has amassed over 14,000 likes, with Arsenal fans clearly happy to see Tierney's return. @AFCMax9 called him the "best left back in the league", while @Gooner_Eurychus said "Premier League isn't ready".

Tierney will soon be able to being training as a group with his Arsenal team-mates, with Premier League clubs having voted unanimously to resume contact training.

A statement has confirmed that under the terms of phase two of 'Project Restart', players will be allowed to "train as a group and engage in tackling while minimising unnecessary close contact."

Premier League players will continue to be tested for Covid-19 twice a week.
