Arsenal have cruised into the FA Cup on Sunday to keep their hopes of a historic quadruple alive.
A commanding 4-0 win over Wigan, in which all four goals were scored inside the opening half an hour, saw the Gunners reach the FA Cup fifth round for the first time in six seasons.
Mikel Arteta has already guided his team into the Champions League knockout stage, becoming the first team to win all eight of their league phase games in the process, having already set a Carabao Cup final date with Manchester City next month.
And on Wednesday, Arsenal can move seven points clear of City at the top of the Premier League table with a win over bottom-club Wolves.
But City are not considered Arsenal’s biggest threat to completing a famous treble.
According to former West Ham and Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew, Liverpool stand in Arsenal’s way in the Champions League.-
“I’m still going to stand by my backing that Liverpool are going to win the Champions League, which I said on this show a few weeks ago,” Pardew said on talkSPORT.
”That’s because, and this is the reason, you have too many winners in that Liverpool dressing room who will focus very much on winning the Champions League.
”It’s good for their CV, good for their contract negotiations, etcetera, so Liverpool, all in, Champions League.”
And Pardew believes that Arsenal, and Liverpool, can learn from Tottenham when juggling multiple competitions during the run-in.
He continued: ”Look at Spurs, when they went on to win the Europa League. Their focus was very much on that. Unfortunately, it cost Tottenham their focus in the league and they were getting turned over most weeks.”
He added: ”What Arteta’s done really well is he’s kept the focus of the team for every competition. That’s not easy, particularly when the team is trying to win the Premier League for a fair number of years so fair play to him.
”And again, today, he’s done the job again. He’s put a team out that was strong and fair play to him, he’s got another great victory.”
