Arsenal vs Watford prediction: Alexandre Lacazette tipped to score first goal at Emirates

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta is hoping for a much better league performance next season after a disappointing finish in their league campaign.

The Gunners could finish as low as 10th today in the Premier League but Arteta acknowledges why they are in this position and that they need to improve.

He said: "I don't think the league table lies at the end of 10 months with 38 games to go. How long? Hopefully next season it will be very different. We have a beautiful challenge, a very demanding challenge but a beautiful challenge, ahead of us.

"We have to put this right, we have to bring this club back to where it belongs which is with the top teams in the country. In order to do that we have to make a lot of good decisions."

The Spaniard has played down Arsenal's influence in the upcoming relegation battle with Watford desperate to have results go their way.

He added: "I was getting closer to the day and it was looking like that with the results that were happening every week. We can only be responsible for how we perform and approach the football matches.

"The same way I'm saying that it's a reflection of what you've done in 10 months it can't be a reflection of what you've done in one or two games."

Recommended bets:

  • Arsenal to win 3-1 - 14/1
  • Lacazette to score first - 4/1

Win, lose or draw?

I'm going to say a win. Arsenal will have a lot more to offer than Watford. While the likes of Troy Deeney may think otherwise I can see this being a convincing win for Mikel Arteta's side. 3-1 win.

First goalscorer

I'm going to go for Lacazette just because Aubameyang is going to be rested so I reckon the Frenchman will have an opportunity to show what he can when he leads the attack.

Penalty duty

I'll go with Lacazette again because I can see both Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe being rested for next week.

Why no clean sheet?

Een though Emi Martinez has been really strong since he's come in but I feel the changes in defence for the FA Cup might mean Watford have a chance to grab a goal.
