Arsenal vs Tottenham: Player ratings as Dele Alli stars in Spurs' Carabao Cup quarter-final win

Tottenham trounced Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates to advance to the Carabao Cup semi-finals where they will face Chelsea.

Mauricio Pochettino‘s side took the lead early in the first-half as Son Heung-min latched on to goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga’s upfield punt via a deft through ball from Dele Alli.

Arsenal squandered a number of chances themselves, Henrikh Mkhitaryan missing the game’s clearest opportunity while Gazzaniga pulled off a brilliant acrobatic save to palm Aaron Ramsey’s volley onto the post.

However, it was Alli who starred in the second-half, quelling Arsenal’s renewed energy with a brilliant flick off the outside of his boot over the head of a helpless Petr Cech, again via another of Gazzaniga’s route one long drives.

The win was marred by an Arsenal fan hurling a plastic bottle at Alli, striking the England international in the face, causing him to raise two fingers to the crowd in reference to the result.

After the match, Pochettino hailed Alli’s “competitive animal” within, and said that he hopes the incident doesn’t detract from the 22-year-old’s man-of-the-match performance.
