Arsenal vs Standard Liege LIVE: Stream, score and latest goal updates from Europa League fixture

Arsenal host Standard Liege at the Emirates Stadium this evening hoping to maintain their perfect start in the Europa League this season.

Arsenal comfortably saw off Frankfurt in their opening match of the 2019/20 European campaign and currently sit on top of Group F.

But Standard Liege are likely to prove tougher opposition. The Belgian side saw off Vitória Guimarães in their opening match and are second in the Belgian First Division. Follow live coverage below:

Good evening and welcome to our live coverage of Arsenal vs Standard Liege.
Unai Emery will be desperate to pick up a win in a competition he has become accustomed to winning throughout his career.

The Gunners lost the final last season in Baku to rivals Chelsea and will hope to right that wrong this year.

It will also be another chance for Emery to look closer at his talented young players.

One man who has show promising signs to life in north London is Dani Ceballos.

The Spaniard looks set to be a key man for Emery both in the Premier League and in Europe.

Arsenal crept back into the top four with a point at Old Trafford on Monday but yet again, they failed to live up to Unai Emery’s “protagonist” label from his induction as manager.

Getting through their opening two games of the season with maximum points, the Gunners hit a wall after falling to a 3-1 defeat at Liverpool. Since then, performances haven’t been convincing over 90 minute periods but they have still managed to pick up points.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been the club’s shining light this season, with seven goals in the opening seven games, but those behind him have left reason for concern. This was also the case last term, which made Arsenal one of the most unpredictable teams to follow. Not just in terms of results, but also when it came to selection and formations. One week, Emery would set up with a back four and then with a back three the next.

Unai Emery has been discussing where he will utilise Gabriel Martinelli this season.

We used him in training and against Nottingham Forest as a striker.

It is not the best position for him but he played well and he played there sometimes in Brazil but he can play right or left.

Emery has also touched on whether Kieran Tierney could play tonight.

Thursday is a good opportunity again, because he is ready to play.
He will take minutes, he will take confidence and will be able with us to show also his progress.
Unai Emery has won 18 of his last 20 home Europa League games across his time at both Sevilla and Arsenal.

He has also won his last five home Europa League matches in a row.

The last was a 3-1 win over his former side, Valencia in last season's semi-finals
Should Arsenal win tonight, it will be the first time they have won six consecutive European matches at Emirates Stadium.

The teams Arsenal have beaten on that run are Qarabag, BATE Borisov, Rennes, Napoli and Valencia
Standard Liege fans are making their voices heard on the streets of north London.

Standard Liege have lost seven of their eight European games in England.

The only time they have managed not to lose was when they drew 2-2 with Everton in the 2008/09 season.
Despite their poor European form in England, the Belgian side may still be confident ahead of tonight's game.

They currently sit 2nd in the Belgian Jupiler League and striker Maxime Lestienne has five goals to his name this term.
They also have the chance top go top of Group F if they upset the Gunners this evening.

Liege ran out 2-0 winners over Vitória on matchday one of this season's Europa League.
How good was Bukayo Saka in matchday one for Arsenal?

Could we see more of that tonight?

Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is expected to start for the Gunners tonight.

After being selected for the Argentinian national team, he spoke about his career ambitions.

My work ethic and commitment has always been focused on being the number one for Arsenal and Argentina.
That's my dream. I said to my dad that I'm going to do it and I won't stop.
Arsenal have played Standard Liege four times in their history and won each time, scoring 15 goals in the process.

The most recent meeting between the clubs was a 2-0 win for Arsenal in the 2009/10 season. Samir Nasri and Denilson the scorers.
Here is the Arsenal team for tonight:

Martinez; Bellerin, Mustafi, Holding, Tierney; Ceballos, Torreira, Willock; Maitland-Niles, Martinelli, Nelson
And here are the substitutes (with a notable absentee):

Leno, Aubameyang, Pepe, Guendouzi, Chambers, Kolasinac, Xhaka
Hector Bellerin captains Arsenal tonight.

Team news

Arsenal will still be without Alexandre Lacazette as the striker continues his recovery from a left ankle injury. Emile Smith Rowe suffered a concussion against Nottingham Forest last week and continues to be assessed. Liege looks like it’ll come too early for him but everybody else is fit for selection.

Striker, Orlando Sa will miss the game for Liege as he has an Achilles injury which has kept him out for the season so far.
