Arsenal vs Southampton lineups: Confirmed team news and starting XIs at the Emirates

Granit Xhaka was once again missing from the Arsenal squad for their clash with struggling Southampton.

Gunners head coach Unai Emery had hinted he could bring the Switzerland midfielder in from the cold after he sat out the last four games following his outburst at supporters during a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace last month.

Emery stuck with a three-man defence as he made two alterations from the loss at Leicester before the international break, with Kieran Tierney and Sokratis Papastathopoulos replacing injured pair Sead Kolasinac and Rob Holding.

Southampton, who have taken just one point from their last seven league games, showed three changes from their home defeat to Everton as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Michael Obafemi and Ryan Bertrand came in.

Arsenal: Leno, Chambers, Papastathopoulos, Luiz, Bellerin, Torreira, Guendouzi, Tierney, Ozil, Lacazette, Aubameyang

Subs: Maitland-Niles, Pepe, Mustafi, Nelson, Martinez, Willock, Martinelli

Southampton: McCarthy, Cedric, Bednarek, Stephens, Bertrand, Ward-Prowse, Hojbjerg, Armstrong, Obafemi, Ings, Redmond

Subs: Yoshida, Long, Djenepo, Romeu, Boufal, Gunn, Valery

Referee: Stuart Attwell
