Arsenal vs Rennes
Europa League 2018-19
Round of 16, second leg | (1-3 aggregate)
Venue: Emirates Stadium, London
Date: Thursday, 14 March, 2019
Kick-off: 8pm GMT
Arsenal have it all to do on Thursday night as they bid to recover from a Europa League shock against Rennes.
The Gunners headed to France last week confident of securing an away result to take back to north London, and started brightly with Alex Iwobi's opener.
But that was the best it got for the Gunners as Sokratis Papastathopoulos was sent off before Rennes scored three goals without reply to take a commanding 3-1 lead to England.
Arsenal shook off that defeat to beat Manchester United 2-0 at the Emirates on Sunday, and the same result would send them through to the Europa League quarter-finals - but Unai Emery's men have left little margin for error.
Arsenal team news and predicted line-up
Alexandre Lacazette has been cleared to play for Arsenal in the second leg of the Europa League last-16 tie against Rennes on Thursday after Uefa reduced his three-match suspension following an appeal.
Sokratis joins Lacazette in being banned, so Emery will need a defensive reshuffle. Laurent Koscielny suffered a cut on his leg against Man Utd, but should be fit.
Hector Bellerin (knee), Danny Welbeck (ankle) and Rob Holding (knee) remain out of contention, though Stephan Lichtsteiner is available.
Arsenal XI: Cech, Maitland-Niles, Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal, Guendouzi, Torreira, Mkhitaryan, Ozil, Iwobi, Aubameyang
Score prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Rennes
Arsenal were down in the doldrums after being beaten in Rennes last week, but Sunday's win over Manchester United has revitalised the Gunners.
Emery's side have struggled away in the Europa League this term, but Iwobi's away goal could prove crucial as a 2-0 win on the night would take them through.
