Eberechi Eze marked his full Arsenal debut with an assist and Martin Zubimendi scored twice as Mikel Arteta’s new recruits enjoyed an excellent outing to defeat Nottingham Forest in Ange Postecoglou’s first match in charge.
After Zubimendi scored his first Arsenal goal with a perfectly struck volley from the edge of the box, Eze set up striker Viktor Gyokeres to double the hosts’ lead just 46 seconds after half-time.
Chris Wood hit the bar for Forest but the visitors were unable to respond, a few days after former Tottenham boss Postecoglou replaced the sacked Nuno Espirito Santo. Zubimendi added Arsenal’s third with a back-post header.
Noni Madueke and Cristhian Mosquera also impressed for the Gunners, who visit Athletic Bilbao in their Champions League opener on Tuesday before the title challengers host Manchester City on Sunday.
For Arsenal, the only negative on the day was another injury to Martin Odegaard, with the captain appearing to suffer a recurrence of a shoulder injury as Bukayo Saka and William Saliba also watched on from the sidelines.

How Noni Madueke silenced the noise to reveal Arsenal’s bold new era
16:57 , Miguel DelaneyLong before Arsenal’s celebratory 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest, when there was a very different kind of noise over Noni Madueke, Mikel Arteta spoke to the player about that initial response to his signing. Back in the summer, over 5,000 fans had signed a #NoToMadueke petition following Arsenal’s interest in the Chelsea winger.
“Pzzzzt, I’ll go for it,” Madueke said. “I can’t wait to put that shirt on and play for you guys.”
Now, after a performance like that, the Arsenal fans won’t be able to wait to see Madueke play again.

How Noni Madueke silenced the noise to reveal Arsenal’s bold new era
Mikel Arteta delighted with impact of Eze and Madueke
16:06 , Jamie BraidwoodArsenal’s wingers were electric against Nottingham Forest, with the majority of Arsenal’s attacks going through Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze also adding quality.
"Both are them were terrific,” Mikel Arteta told Match of the Day. “A real threat with their own qualities, so different with the way that they create danger and threat and unpredictability to the opponent, so very pleased.
"They are very different, we need to use them because it will require different profiles around them to maximum the qualities that they have but they're in a good moment."

Ange Postecoglou on defeat: 'Disappointed by the outcome'
15:06 , Jamie BraidwoodNottingham Forest boss Ange Postecoglou says his side “struggled to get a grip of the game” and “allowed Arsenal to get away from us” by conceding so shortly after half time.
"It hasn't been an ideal prep for the players and you have to take that into account,” he tells TNT Sports. “All you can ask for is effort and unfortunately, against a very good opponent, today was a bridge too far.
"This is a group of players who showed last year how hard they fight for each other. Disappointment today but there's only one way to rectify that.
"They're all big jobs. I haven't taken over an easy one yet but that's why I'm here. I love the challenge and we'll get to where we want to."
Forest go away to Swansea (Carabao Cup), Burnley (Premier League) and Real Betis (Europa League) in their next three games.

Viktor Gyokeres hitting stride for Arseanl
15:01 , Jamie BraidwoodArsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres, who scored this third goal in four appearances for the Gunners, said it was an “amazing” feeling to score at the Emirates.
“We came back and we wanted to do a better performance than the last game [at Liverpool], I think we did that so a great day,” he tells TNT Sports.
“It feels great, the guys in the team have been amazing. It's been so easy to get into the group. But of course there is a bit of time where you have to settle in with everything around."
The striker clearly enjoyed playing with Eze and Madueke and adds: “They always do something special”.

Arsenal go top ahead of Liverpool
14:37 , Jamie BraidwoodFour games, nine points. Arsenal return to the top of the table and move ahead of Liverpool, although only on goal difference and having played a game more. The Reds are back in action tomorrow away at Burnley.
Forest remain on four points.
FULL TIME! Arsenal 3-0 Nottingham Forest
14:31 , Jamie BraidwoodDefeat for Ange Postecoglou in his first game in charge of Nottingham Forest. This was always going to be a tough first game, especially with only a few days to prepare.
But Postecoglou is now winless in five against Arsenal, losing his last four. He’ll hope for a better showing at the City Ground later in the season.

FULL TIME! Arsenal 3-0 Nottingham Forest
14:29 , Jamie BraidwoodThat’s it! Two for Zubimendi, a goal for Gyokeres, an assist for Eze. Madueke and Mosquera excellent too. That’s a fine outing for Arteta and Arsenal, who now look to have strength and depth everywhere you look.

14:19 , Jamie Braidwood85 mins: Saka and Saliba are looking very happy indeed as the make their way down the touchline and watch the closing stages.
Lewis-Skelly gets away with a slip on the edge of the box as Yates looked to win the ball - the Forest man is ruled to have committed a foul.
GOAL! Arsenal 3-0 Nottingham Forest (ZUBIMENDI 79')
14:13 , Jamie BraidwoodA brilliant volley and now a header from Zubimendi! He looks as shocked as anyone!
Trossard’s cross towards the back post is nodded in by the diminutive midfielder, who scored two goals for Real Sociedad last season but has already matched his tally for the Gunners.
There’s a broad smile on Zubimendi’s face as he taps his head. But it’s turning into a tough day for Postecoglou as the Emirates sings “are you Tottenham in disguise?”

Arsenal 2-0 Nottingham Forest
14:12 , Jamie Braidwood77 mins: Madueke skips past Williams and draw a booking from the Forest full-back.
The way Madueke and Eze have played today has been a bit like when Saka and Martinelli would tear their full-backs apart.
Madueke gets a standing ovation as he is replaced by Martinelli, as does Eze as Trossard comes on.
Arsenal’s strength in depth looks superb - and that’s without Saka, Saliba and Havertz.
Arsenal 2-0 Nottingham Forest
14:10 , Jamie Braidwood75 mins: Eze has given Savona a torrid time in the second half. Eze has played with freedom and is if he’s enjoying himself.
Arsenal 2-0 Nottingham Forest
14:06 , Jamie Braidwood72 mins: Should be three! Wonderful Arsenal move. Madueke, playing with such confidence, waits in the box and times his pass to Timber as he arrives on the overlap. Timber fires it across but the ball narrowly evades Rice, who was sliding in.
Arsenal 2-0 Nottingham Forest
14:04 , Jamie Braidwood70 mins: Excellent header from Mosquera to clear a teasing cross from Bakwa. Gibbs-White looked to be lurking but Mosquera dealt with it brilliantly facing his own goal.
Arsenal 2-0 Nottingham Forest
14:02 , Jamie Braidwood68 mins: Arteta’s thoughts turn to Tuesday as Gyokeres and Calafiori make way. Declan Rice and Myles Lewis-Skelly are on, in a move that could see Mikel Merino go up top.
Arsenal 2-0 Nottingham Forest
13:59 , Jamie Braidwood65 mins: Brilliant again from Madueke to escape around the outside of Williams. He can’t find Gyokeres but wins a corner.
Madueke has been sensational - and he’s won six corners already for his team. Gyokeres flicks this one over the bar.
Arsenal 2-0 Nottingham Forest
13:54 , Jamie Braidwood60 mins: Changes for Forest. It does not look like it will be Postecoglou’s day but he may as well see some more of his squad. Kalimuendo and Bakwa, two new recruits, come on for Wood and Hudson-Odoi.
OFF THE POST! Arsenal 2-0 Nottingham Forest
13:53 , Jamie Braidwood59 mins: Close to a second from Gyokeres! Lovely interchange between the striker and Madueke. He receives the one-two around the outside and he crashes the strike against the outside of the near post. That would have been emphatic.
Arsenal 2-0 Nottingham Forest
13:51 , Jamie Braidwood57 mins: Oh hello. A lovely flick from Eze down the left leads to a chance for Nwaneri on the edge of the box. But the youngster can’t keep his shot down.
Arsenal 2-0 Nottingham Forest
13:50 , Jamie Braidwood55 mins: It’s been a very good day for Arsenal’s recruitment team so far. Gyokeres and Zubimendi have scored, Eze made the assist, Madueke has been electric and Mosquera has been solid in defence.

OFF THE BAR! Arsenal 2-0 Nottingham Forest
13:46 , Jamie Braidwood50 mins: Forest almost handed a lifeline! Ndoye scampered away from Calafiori and fired a cross into Wood, who somehow manages to direct the ball goalwards with his chest.
It crashes against the bar - but it’s only after the replays that it’s made clear that David Raya helped it onto the bar. Brilliant save from the goalkeeper.
GOAL GIVEN! Arsenal 2-0 Nottingham Forest
13:41 , Jamie BraidwoodIt stands! Eze is onside and Arsenal double their lead moments after the restart.

GOAL! Arsenal 2-0 Nottingham Forest (GYOKERES 47')
13:40 , Jamie BraidwoodPerfect start to the second half for Arsenal, but a nightmare for Forest!
Savona is caught out by Calafiori’s ball over the top for Eze, who is released down the left. Eze, who is onside, slides a wonderful ball across to find Gyokeres, who is just where you want your No 9 to be to tap into the net.
A third Arsenal goal for Gyokeres, and a first Arsenal assist for Eze.

HALF TIME! Arsenal 1-0 Nottingham Forest
13:34 , Jamie BraidwoodThe only negative of the half for Arsenal was Martin Odegaard’s injury.
The captain was forced off with what appeared to be a recurrence of a right shoulder injury.
Odegaard landed heavily on his shoulder following a challenge on the edge of the Forest box and, despite an attempt to continue, was replaced in the 16th minute.
Odegaard’s injury comes amid a busy run of fixtures in September for Mikel Arteta’s side.
The Gunners begin their Champions League campaign at Athletic Bilbao on Tuesday before hosting rivals Manchester City on Sunday. A visit to Newcastle United follows a week later.

Arsenal rocked by Martin Odegaard injury after latest blow to shoulder
HALF TIME! Arsenal 1-0 Nottingham Forest
13:32 , Jamie BraidwoodNoni Madueke has been a constant menace down the right wing for Arsenal.

HALF TIME! Arsenal 1-0 Nottingham Forest
13:31 , Jamie BraidwoodArsenal lost at Anfield two weeks ago because of a stunning strike from the edge of the box.
They lead against Nottingham Forest two weeks later because of a brilliant piece of technique from Zubimendi.
It’s a goal worth 0.03 xG.
HALF TIME! Arsenal 1-0 Nottingham Forest
13:24 , Jamie BraidwoodArsenal lead at the break. They’ve had the majority of the ball, the attacking play and the attempts on goal, but it’s taken a special moment from Zubimendi to unlock the game.
Zubimendi’s first goal for Arsenal since arriving from Real Sociedad in the summer.

Arsenal 1-0 Nottingham Forest
13:20 , Jamie Braidwood45+3 mins: A good move from Eze to breeze past Savona and reach the byline. He pulls it back and almost finds Gyokeres, who had pounced ahead of Milenkovic.
CHANCE! Arsenal 1-0 Nottingham Forest
13:17 , Jamie Braidwood45+1 mins: Forest suddenly spring into life! Wood and Gibbs-White exchange a one-two and Gibbs-White has a sight of goal. It takes a brilliant challenge from Timber to force Gibbs-White wide.
That was their first attempt on goal but it was well-worked.
Arsenal 1-0 Nottingham Forest
13:16 , Jamie Braidwood45 mins: There are going to be seven minutes of added time, due to the Odegaard and Murillo injuries.
Arsenal 1-0 Nottingham Forest
13:13 , Jamie Braidwood40 mins: It’s been a difficult start for Forest, made harder by Murillo being forced off with an injury picked up when he blocked Madueke’s run earlier. Nicolo Savona is on.
Ndoye then floats a cross that goes straight out when Wood was waiting in the box.
Arsenal 1-0 Nottingham Forest
13:08 , Jamie Braidwood36 mins: Would you believe that Zubimendi gets another go at a volley from the edge of the box?!
This time Calafiori’s long throw is cleared, Zubimendi watches it drop perfectly and makes a pretty decent connection on the volley, but this one does not come down in time and goes over the bar.
GOAL! Arsenal 1-0 Nottingham Forest (ZUBIMENDI 32')
13:02 , Jamie BraidwoodA STUNNING WAY TO OPEN YOUR ACCOUNT! MARTIN ZUBIMENDI, WHAT A GOAL!
The corner is cleared to the edge of the box and Zubimendi catches the volley to perfection. Ok, it takes a little deflection on the way through, which helps it away from Sels, but WOW, that’s how you control a volley!
Brilliant from the Spain international.

It’s last-ditch stuff from Forest. The corner count is rising for Arsenal.

Arsenal 0-0 Nottingham Forest
12:46 , Jamie Braidwood15 mins: Forest are struggling to get the ball to stick to Wood when they play long. A lot of direct passes from Postecoglou’s side so far.
Arsenal are also missing the final ball. Odegaard’s through pass to Gyokeres is overhit after a nice touch to break through midfield.
Arsenal 0-0 Nottingham Forest
12:44 , Jamie Braidwood13 mins: Nice play from Madueke to get around Morato and chip a ball towards the back post, that evades Merino.
50 per cent of Arsenal’s attacking play has gone down the right so far.
Arsenal 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Odegaard is back in the action.
Arsenal 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Header for Gabriel! But it’s well wide of goal. Forest will be disappointed that they allowed Gabriel to win it.
Arsenal 0-0 Nottingham Forest
12:39 , Jamie Braidwood8 mins: There’s concern over Odegaard, who went crashing down on his shoulder after a heavy challenge on the edge of the box. He has just recently returned from a shoulder injury so perhaps this is just a precaution.
CHANCE! Arsenal 0-0 Nottingham Forest
12:38 , Jamie Braidwood6 mins: It should be 1-0! Odegaard’s free-kick into the box is not cleared. It breaks to Merino but Sels gets out and spreads his large frame. It didn’t drop for Merino, which meant he had to volley. But it’s a fine save from Sels.

Arsenal 0-0 Nottingham Forest

"I didn't want to make so many changes today. I wanted to keep it fairly consistent. We lost Ola, but Morato comes in.
"Until you get to know the players, it is hard to make an accurate assessment. Some guys have a hell lot of potential to improve as well.

Good morning
09:04 , Jamie BraidwoodAnge Postecoglou is back in the dugout for his first Premier League match as Nottingham Forest manager as the former Spurs boss returns to North London to face Arsenal.
Postecoglou was announced as Forest’s new manager after a falling out with volatile owner Evangelos Marinakis led to the dismissal of Nuno Espirito Santo at the City Ground.
The Aussie, who was sacked from Spurs just 16 days after guiding them to the Europa League in June, will hope to break his curse against his once-local rivals, having never won in his four previous meetings with the Gunners.
Arsenal will meanwhile look to get back to winning ways after a moment of magic from Dominik Szoboszlai downed them in a bitterly disappointing defeat at champions Liverpool before the international break.
