Arsenal vs Newcastle
Premier League 2018-19
Venue: Emirates Stadium
Date: Monday, 1 April, 2019
Kick-off time: 8pm GMT
Arsenal welcome Newcastle to the capital on Monday as they look to tighten their grip on a top four finish.
The Gunners have moved back into the final Champions League place with victory over Manchester United in their last league outing opening up a two point gap between themselves and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
But in Newcastle, they come up against a side who have rediscovered some resolve, coming from behind in their last two matches to claim a valuable victory and a draw against Everton and Bournemouth respectively.
Arsenal vs team news and predicted line-ups
Arsenal have been handed an injury boost ahead of their match against Newcastle on Monday, with Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka and Nacho Monreal all expected to train as normal on Friday.
The trio have been struggling with injuries over the international break. Arsenal have been at a training camp in Dubai this week but Monreal was left at home as he recovered from a tight calf.
Ramsey withdrew from Wales’s squad last Saturday due to a thigh problem and subsequently missed their Euro 2020 qualifier against Slovakia.
Meanwhile, fellow midfielder Xhaka has also eased concerns over an adductor injury he picked up while playing for Switzerland.
Xhaka scored as Switzerland raced into a 3-0 lead against Denmark on Tuesday night, but went off with 11 minutes to go as they drew 3-3.
Arsenal XI: Leno, Sokratis, Koscielny, Monreal, Maitland-Niles, Xhaka, Ramsey, Kolasinac, Ozil, Lacazette, Aubameyang
Newcastle XI: Dubravka, Yedlin, Lejeune, Fernandez, Dummett, Ritchie, Perez, Diame, Hayden, Almiron, Rondon
Score prediction: Arsenal 3-1 Newcastle
The Gunners have rediscovered some form at the right moment and with some key players well rested during the international break, a home win will be expected at the Emirates.
