Arsenal have thumped newly promoted Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners were heavy favourites to make two wins from two at the start of the new season, and got the job done in emphatic fashion thus setting them up nicely for next weekend's showdown with reigning champions Liverpool at Anfield.
Mikel Arteta's side were by no means at their fluent best in the 1-0 win over Manchester United six days ago, but his players defended resolutely and showed plenty of character to pick up three points. That said, there was a big improvement on performance today as they scored five without reply.
Jurrien Timber and summer signing Viktor Gyokeres each scored twice, while Bukayo Saka opened his account for the season with a powerful finish. Another three points in the bag, however, on a night of intent from Arsenal - following their unveiling of new signing Eberechi Eze - there were injury scares for both Saka and Martin Odgeaard. Big Arsenal win
19:43 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneArsenal cruised to victory over Premier League new-boys Leeds to make it two wins from two at the start of the new season.
The Emirates Stadium was rocking right before kick-off as Arsenal presented new signing Eberechi Eze to the crowd. However, it took a while for his new team-mates to find their groove.
In fact, the Gunners had goalkeeper David Raya to thank as he made a fine save to deny Pascal Struijk putting the visitors ahead from a corner.
Although the set-piece kings did break the deadlock just after the half hour mark when Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber superbly headed home Declan Rice’s cross.

Arteta backs Gyokeres
16:00 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneMikel Arteta says Arsenal have spent this past week learning how to get the best out of Viktor Gyokeres - and has backed the striker to start finding the net “very, very often”, writes Simon Collings.
Gyokeres made his Arsenal debut last week, but he was taken off after an hour as the Gunners beat Manchester United by a solitary goal at Old Trafford.
The Swede is still getting up to speed with his new team-mates after arriving from Sporting earlier this summer as part of a deal worth over £60million.
Gyokeres’ style is different to Arsenal’s previous strikers and Arteta admits it will take for his side to adapt.
But the Spaniard is convinced the goals will start to flow, with Arsenal next in action on Saturday when they host newly-promoted Leeds United.

Latest scores
15:55 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneTwo games have already been played across this Premier League weekend. Last night saw Chelsea thrash West Ham 5-1 at the London Stadium, while Tottenham recorded a 2-0 win over Manchester City earlier today.
Currently, it is half-time in the 3pm BST kick-offs.
Bournemouth 1-0 Wolves
Burnley 0-0 Sunderland
Brentford 1-0 Aston Villa
Eze latest
15:50 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneArsenal did not complete the signing of Eberechi Eze in time for him to make his debut against Leeds - but they hope to wrap up the move very soon.
The Gunners are closing in on a deal for Eze after agreeing a fee with Crystal Palace worth £60million upfront, plus £7.5m in add-ons.
Eze has agreed personal terms with Arsenal and Standard Sport understands he is underwent his medical on Friday morning.

Predicted Arsenal XI
15:45 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneMikel Arteta’s biggest selection headache is who starts at left-back. Riccardo Calafiori did well against Manchester United and scored, meaning he could get the nod over Myles Lewis-Skelly again.
Viktor Gyokeres should lead the line and make his home debut in the absence of Kai Havertz, but the left flank spot feels up for grabs.
Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard are both struggling for form, so that could open the door for Noni Madueke to make his full debut.
Arsenal predicted XI (4-3-3): Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Odegaard, Zubimendi, Rice; Saka, Gyokeres, Madueke

Noni Madueke primed for key role
15:40 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneEven in a stadium of 60,000 fans, Noni Madueke’s mind is clear and he has just one thought in his head, writes Simon Collings.
The winger views being direct on the ball as one of his best attributes and it is one of the reasons Arsenal agreed to pay Chelsea over £50million for his services this summer.
“I only really have one thought in my mind when I get the ball at my feet or in space,” says Madueke. “It’s just to line up the full-back and go past him.”
There have been flashes of that intent in Madueke’s early appearances as the 23-year-old gets up to speed at his new club.
